Artist: Nadia Zeeshan
Description: 40 x 30 x 1.5 inches (H x W x D)
Painted on gallery wrapped stretched canvas using acrylic paint, ink and charcoal. Hand foiled with layers of Pure 24k Gold leaf to give the painting a regal look. Textured luxuriously with beach sand hand plucked from the west coast and modelling paste to add depth.
This painting is an abstract rendition of the iconic Golden Dome of the Rock by Nadia Zeeshan. This historic site is revered by Muslims, Christians and Jews for more than a few reasons as this is where The Temple Mount once stood; the place Abraham took his Son for sacrifice as submission to God's will; the city where Jesus was born, preached Christianity and was crucified; where Mohammad ascended to the Heavens during the Journey of Isra' and Mi'raj (Arabic: الإسراء والمعراج).
There is something about this magnificent place that intertwines creed and the bonds of worship . A place where the physical realm has met the divine more than a few times as expressed in monotheistic traditions. This place represents unity between faiths, yet causes division.
In the painting , the iconic Dome shines in all its glory with a starry night in the background that exuberates the feeling of peace and timelessness.
